YI Technology – Redefining Face-to-Face Transactions

In the fast-moving world of retail technology, frictionless payment is no longer a luxury—it’s an expectation. Partnering with Shanghai-based Yi Technology, we set out to design a face payment terminal that would not only perform reliably in high-traffic environments but elevate the customer experience through form, material, and presence.

Departing from the industry norm of injection-molded plastics, we engineered a device built from aluminum extrusion, CNC-machined for precision and durability. This choice gave the terminal a refined, high-end finish, while also offering the robust feel of a premium object—stable on any countertop, resistant to wear, and visually aligned with modern retail aesthetics.

More than a utilitarian tool, the result is a compact yet confident presence on the counter: a device that invites trust, speeds up transactions, and reflects the quality of the brand behind it.

Through smart engineering and material honesty, this project proves that even the most utilitarian objects in the store can be reimagined as thoughtful, lasting design.
