Newave – Rethinking Surfboard Travel

Traveling with a surfboard has long been a logistical challenge—cumbersome to carry, difficult to fit in cars, nearly impossible on a bike, and a constant headache on airplanes. That’s where Newave stepped in, with a bold vision to reshape not just how surfboards are used, but how they move through the world.

We partnered with Newave to design a surfboard that breaks apart—but not down. Our solution was a precision-engineered, 3-piece board that connects securely with just two custom-designed clips. The result? A full-sized, performance-driven surfboard that can be taken apart in seconds and packed down to a third of its size without compromising stiffness, control, or aesthetics.

To complete the system, we designed a modular roll-top backpack that adapts to the board’s height when disassembled. With durable materials and an intuitive rolling mechanism, the backpack offers hands-free mobility whether you're navigating airport terminals or weaving through city streets on a bike.

The outcome is a surfboard ecosystem built for movement—streamlined, versatile, and uncompromising in performance. Newave’s modular design doesn’t just solve a problem; it invites surfers to take their board further, more easily, and with more freedom than ever before.
